Thanks to our generous donors, Pines of Sarasota remains a warm, welcoming place that residents truly call home. We couldn’t do it without you.
David Anthony, Pines Nursing Home Administrator, oversees long-term care, short-term rehab, and memory care at Pines. That means he’s responsible for 204 residents and nearly 350 employees—a big job, but one he leads with heart.
“The culture here at Pines is all about love and care,” David says. “It’s an environment where people are smiling and happy to be here. A happy staff gives great care to our residents. We want to provide an environment which we would trust our parents to.”
And it shows. Pines of Sarasota recently earned a prestigious Five-Star Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services—the highest rating possible for quality and patient outcomes.
He compares it to a five-star hotel rating. “If all the hotels are the same price, are you going to stay at the three-star hotel or the five-star hotel? You don’t get a five- star rating without providing truly exceptional care.”
At the heart of Pines’ high-quality care is our homegrown team. Through our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) programs—run by the Pines Education Institute and powered by donor support—we’re training the next generation of caregivers.
“To use a baseball analogy, it’s our farm system,” David says. “We give people the opportunity, they put in the work. We’re not just building our own talent—we’re creating a career path for folks who are fully invested.”
David has been with Pines for four and a half years, and after nearly three decades in healthcare, he says this place stands apart.
“This is the first true nonprofit I’ve worked for. Because of our donors, we’re able to deliver a level of care and service most providers can only dream about.”
It’s hard to overstate the impact of your generosity—not just on the Pines, but on the entire community.
“You’re helping care for people who’ve outlived their resources,” David says. “But you’re also changing lives—our residents’, their families’, and our staff’s. Your support will be a blessing to the community for decades to come.”
